Whats the situation of getting time off for a job interview?

Think it would depend on the manager in question.
Though, can't see any manager being happy about it.
Unless they would be glad to see the back of you.

Personally, I'd make your potential new employer aware of your working hours and ask for an appointment outside of them.
Or, swap your day off if you can to the day of the interview. Or request the day off as A/L.

would guess at nil if leaving of own accord, if they have served you notice you did used to be allowed 1 day p/w
years ago i was served 3 weeks notice and the boss wasn't happy that i took 3 days off with pay just for the sake of it,
he asked for proof that i was job hunting and i gave him a number of a mate who ran a small company, he just told him he wanted me for a 2nd & 3rd interview

If it is very local, you could take an hour break for interview and then resume delivery when you finished interview. But that only work if you don't share a van. But another problem is your uniform. If you got day off or floating week off, you can do that as long floating week is not 2-5 weeks time.

If you cant geta time to suit then put it in writing to your dom imo.
Bring a witness in etc.

cant see how they can stop you from attending an interview even on grounds of business needs......its restraint fo trade ffs.

As a rule it seems they don't have to give you the time off.
If you are being made redundant though that's a different matter...

Our DO managers are suckers for a good explanation. Want time off for an interview just make up a good story..........
e.g. Prior to joining RM you've trained and qualified in <insert your chosen field>. The interview is for job right up your street, the one with your name on it.

Especially true if you're on a full-time contract, DOM will say "good luck at your interview, all the best for the future"
Don't tell 'em it's for a factory job cause you're sick of their harassment and bullying to complete your delivery.
