I came across a video on youtube made by a young girl who was doing a rural delivery in the U.S. ... It made for interesting viewing, using her own car with trays of mail and pkts piled up to the roof on her back seat which looked extremely dangerous but is apparently allowed, yet at one point she was saying that at no point on her round was she allowed to make any manouvre that involved reversing without it being cleared first by some health and safety/route planner!

We can only aspire to provide this kind of service in Royal Mail.

To have the time to go beyond customers' expectations is highly commendable. We would have left a P739 car in the mail box at the end of the drive, then rushed on to the next address.
To have the latest battery-powered purpose-built van is only the stuff of delivery dreams. We get tatty Vauxhalls with curled-hard sandwiches stuffed in the door pockets.
And I bet she doesn't get bullied into working over her duty time. One bad word from a manager and she can file a harassment lawsuit against him.
