How long is your duty? Break it down for me .. tie up time .,,, travel time,, break time.. duty length time... killing off time at end?(returning things to phg)

Around 1hr IPS, 1hr 30 to fully prep walk including tying up, kill offs etc. Tying and bagging up takes less than 10 minutes. 20 mins break, so from a 6.45 start it's around 9.30-9.45 before we get out, obviously it's later on busy days. 10 minutes to the walk, approx 3.45-4hrs delivery then 10 minutes back plus another 10 minutes in the office to return packets etc.

I used a GPS app this week to plot my walk and my walking speed is 4-4.5mph (it was around that every time I had a quick look at the current speed). Total distance I covered from first to last letter excluding van packets was 10.86 miles, 1.9 of which were in the van between loops.

Our walks are those sort that are really easy on light days and really sh*t on heavy days. the loop times can easily double from one day to the next, we've done it in times ranging from 2hrs to 4hrs 30 which was minus half a walk and loads of packets we cut off.

Too long, had two loops and some parcels taken off us today, still JUST finished on time. Yesterday the prick DOM was having a go at the duty holder of one of the walks we did today arguing his walk wasn't too long and the guy covering him last week didn't go over. (It is too long blatantly, been measured as too long by a lie-no, and cover guy DID go over his time every day bar one). Walk holder went off sick today, stress of arguing with an incompetent, self-serving, lying, underhand, duplicitous, pus-filled, syphylitic buboe. Possibly.

As the promise of "it'll be ready to go when you come in" fails miserably i usually have, on average, 45mins prep to do.
8:30 sort redirections
8:45 tie up, bag, load van
9:00 20min break

drive to location

Start walking at roughly 9:30 until finish at 13:30

back to office 13:45 - head home around 2.

If people are fully prepping a walk (I'm assuming this is tying up as well) inside 45 minutes then our walks must be a lot heavier than I thought. You can only prep inside that time on a Tuesday.

The prep times under the indoor work tool are up on a board in our office, the shortest walk comes out at 1hr 15 prep and the longest 2hrs+.

Have you had a delivery methods revision yet? Cos once you have, and the area manager keeps pushing for more hours after that you won't be finishing before 12.30 every day.

Up until our revision I rarely finished after 12, now you can add 2 hours onto finish times though we do start a bit later.

Oh, and I do say no, but seeing as we're paid until 2.45pm you can't say no and finish at 12.30

Ours is much the same.
Averages out at about 1hr 40mins per duty for all prep tasks across the whole office.
To be honest 45 minutes would just about cover sorting sequenced mail and D2D.

Your sick of people complaining, yet you work a 6hr day? No wonder you arent complaining! Your preps too slow btw, 1hr5 for something I can do in 35mins

same for me except whilst my first letter is about 9.50 my last one is never earlier than 2 and usually nearer 3 unless we cull.i'd love to say no and go home at 12.30 but since my finish time is 2.10,might be a bit difficult,enjoy the good times they won't last and everyday you're finishing early you're bringing that day ever closer.

Before our revision 2 years ago I would be regularly done before 12, our walks actually aren't much longer now but with the extra indoor time and extra time P&L takes it pushes that much later.

If I was working on my own I'd do my walk under 3hrs most days. The first set of walks the planners came up with were thrown out, they were ridiculously long with 800-900 calls (houses not flats).

Staggered start times through the week earliest is 6.25 and latest 7.20!
On a Wednesday start 6.30
Prep sequenced mail for 2 duties 1200 delivery points. 50mins
Ips mail 40 mins
Packets 20 mins including large items
Redirections and kill offs 10 mins
Tie up 25 mins
Load van with van checks 10 mins
10 minute break then part timer arrives and we leave!
5 mins to duty
4.5 hr delivery
30 min break on the end or 15 mins half way through and 15 on the end
Back to depot to unload for 14.45 finish.

I think it's very hard going. Don't get any help with prep and I think we only complete everyday cos me and the guy I work with walk quite quick and both drive!
