Re: priority shares
No.
I wouldn't be so disrespectful to myself and my colleagues as to do so.

Most postmen/women that I know haven't got a pot to p**s in, those that have got money to throw away then I hope they have the hankies ready when we announce the strikes followed by America falling off the fiscal cliff.

Re: priority shares
The 'free' shares are at best a replacement for the Colleague Shares that vanished under our noses just before payment was due. So I am mystified as to why 100 staff have rejected their 'entitlement' from RM. We were shafted then and have been again as a 5 year 'topsy turvy' ride on the share price will determine the eventual value.
I have no problem with anyone having a punt on RM - just be prepared for a rollercoaster ride.

Re: priority shares
It is a bit underhand for Royal Mail to release the figures of the 'Opt outs' or conscientious objectors if you want to call it that.
I suppose it is a way of undermining those that are vehemently against privatisation and shares ownership - by saying now you are one of us and that when it comes down to it - its all about the money not principles...
I should like to add that I one could easily Opt Out if one knows that one are not going to be at RM in the next 3 years.
Why Opt out anyway when you can give the money to the needy instead of allowing RM to keep it.

Re: priority shares
you gotta be nuts opting for extra shares.
wait till they drop drastically after the strike is announced then buy them at a knock down price...if your willing to have a punt.

Re: priority shares
Regarding buying shares, its good for a quick buck, they`ll rise sharply at the start
normally ....but has the strike threat been factored in?
everywhere im reading....ah you will always make a quick buck...but this falls right in the middle of the ballot lol.
ill make a bold prediction.....shares will fall 25% after a week or 2

Re: priority shares
In your position I would have asked to be considered for IHR and keep the shares. Why give RM anything?Jimmy Carr`s laugh wrote:I opted out as I wont be here in 3 years. Ill be lucky to be in here in 1 year the way things are going with the bullying, harrassing, and set ups, plus im nearly crippledIm glad 99 bretheren stood with me
Regarding buying shares, its good for a quick buck, they`ll rise sharply at the start, then the decline will begin afer 3-4 weeks. The £2000 you have been promised, as with all privatised firms, will be worth peanuts by the time you can sell them. Once they start selling off buildings, cutting the post office counters out the equasion, staff will be demoralised, service will be bad, the price will plummet.

I will make another prediction, the shares will go up in value as soon as they start to trade.

Re: priority shares
I have bought some, but only time will tell whether they'll be a good investment or not. I haven't got any set idea of how long I'll keep them. It could be a few weeks/months to take a quick profit or it could be 20+ years to take (hopefully) regular long term dividends.

They won't fall anywhere near that, any strike will only have a small short term effect on RM as a whole. They'll dip yes but recover straight after.
They will be a good investment for the next 5/10 years, packets will continue to increase and so will RM profits.

Re: priority shares
Just one year for the Directors (presumably this is directors in the legal company sense rather than Royal Mail job titles like "director of paper clips") This could be possibly less than one year subject to unspecified "certain exceptions" or the "prior written consent of the Joint Global Coordinators"north london driver wrote:the shares that are given to moya and the little boys who she runs, will they be also not be able

From page 20 of the prospectus:
Pursuant to deeds of lockup, each of the Directors has agreed that, subject to certain exceptions, during the period of 365 days from the date of Admission, he or she will not, without the prior written consent of the Joint Global Coordinators, offer, sell or contract to sell, or otherwise dispose of any Ordinary Shares (or any interest therein in respect thereof) or enter into any transaction with the same economic effect as any of the foregoing, including in respect of any Ordinary Shares acquired by them pursuant to the Offer (including the Employee Priority Offer) and/or the Employee Free Shares Offer.
