Can't you sit on the toilet (seat down ) to put your pants on?

You better ask for an Atos referral, and get some physiotherapy, lively! Sounds bloody awful.

Why can't RM make it mandatory for letter boxes to be risk assessed for H&S reasons, therefore showing their hard working, out in all weathers delivery peeps, a 'duty of care' ?? Surely the Union could help promote this? Or am I 'having a laugh' Jimmy :wave

Some years ago, please correct me if I'm wrong. The Irish Postal Workers Union persuaded thier government to introduce legislation for the height of letter boxes on all new front doors.
My heart sank this morning when I came across a new front door at No12 with the letter box at the bottom

Jimmy Carr`s laugh wrote:Oh yes. I awake in the morning, I have to roll out of bed, then struggle to stand upright. Get into the bathroom and brush my teeth, have to lift the water to my mouth to rinse as I can longer bend down. Then I have to sit on the floor to put on my underpants, socks, pants, and trainers. Hold the sink to get back up again, 2 ibuprofen, and off we go.

I drop a letter at work, I cant pick it up. I get a low down letterbox im in agony, I can only bend halfway (in pain) and cant reach properly. If it doesnt go all the way thru I have to leave it.

Once im stood up in fine, but cant bend and when im sat down I cant get up. If I lie down I need to hold something to pull myself up. Constant twinges.

What have I become? What has this job made me into? Im 37 btw, 21 years service, feel 57.
We are almost mirror images - I also have problems with my grip, probably due to the constant holding of bundles of mail and sorting ... but at 37 you need desperately to get medical help because it won't get better on it's own and I have all those problems but 27 years older than you my friend. I only have to suffer another few months but I would hope you won't have to suffer another 30 years - no wonder we all used to retire at 55 - 60. Royal Mail need not worry any longer about an ageing workforce because most people of your age and younger will never reach that stage through wear and tear on their bodies.

Re: Runtastic Pedometer
Postby Jimmy Carr`s laugh » 01 Oct 2013, 16:58

Apparently these pedometers arent exact as they count steps when you bump n down, and you can set diff step sizes etc, which I didnt know.

Again , basic maths, say my rounds 8 miles inc the mile there and back, so duty 6 miles, which I dont think is enough, but anyways, 2hrs30, is about 3.8mph and half the time in not even moving! My round is exactly 1 mile from the office and it takes me between 7-8 mins to get the the start every day, so thats just under 8mph.

This isnt BS ,this is the truth. May god be my judge :thumbup
....... and now you're complaining you're physically f****d :d'oh!

:Very Happy I can say that once you leave, things get so much better! For me my feet sufferede the most, I had acquired a lot of little stress fractures, some mornings I could hardly get my boots on. Al gone now!
