What does a good offer look like?

Post by DOM »

I don't think anyone wants to strike but I understand sometimes people feel the need to as a last resort to force change. I also understand that people will be voting yes to strike for all sorts of different reasons but for you what would prevent you from striking now? Bearing in mind that privatisation is going ahead and changes need to be made to keep RM profitable.

Nothing - I am against privatisation and we have not had a democratic say on it. So I will be exercising my Democratic right to remove my labour. :Very Happy

Ignoring privatisation Image Above inflation rise, remove the no strike deal, more information on the "Industrial Stability" agreement (who would sign up to an agreement when we don't know what it says), and more movement on the Pension.

IMHO the 3 or 10 year legally binding guarantee is a red-herring from both RM and the CWU. There is no way that anyone could draw up an iron clad guarantee, and because of that both parties will play any weakness to their benefit anyway, so it won't be worth the paper its written on.

Can you explain yourself a little more, you seem to be saying that any agreement struck won't be binding and can / will be changed by the new owners. So why would you strike if you have no faith in the outcome and you feel that you'll be dupe'd by either party.

What would you like to see happening ?

An act of god, death or a couple of million on the lottery and to be honest even with the lottery win I would probably hang around long enough to strike, just to be awkward.

On a more serious note the business needs a massive management root and branch overhaul if it's to make it in the private sector, there's more dead wood in there than an MFI warehouse so It's probably best if you guys start sorting out them apples first and leave the fighting and protecting of hard won terms and conditions to the professionals, nothing personal.
What would prevent me from striking now, joining the CMA probably. :cuppa

DOM let me run thru your post
1. You are quite right I don't think anybody WANTS a strike
2. The Reasons behind this Ballot is that YOUR & Our masters have spoken, at the TOP table all sorts of issues are discussed and Negotiated, Pensions, Pay rises, what constitutes a fair days wage for a fair days work, B&H on a daily scale, Terms & Conditions that will busted apart, not just mine or ours but yours as well.
3. Read my Lips this Ballot IS NOT ABOUT PRIVITISATION, it is about preserving the Terms & Working conditions now, thru, and after Privitisation
4. Royal Mail Group (RMG) is already in profit, and has been for quite a while now (apart from when Colleague Shares) were supposed to have been paid
Just my observations DOM........................ :wave :wave

Nothing will prevent me striking. If the vote comes in, and a date is set, that's it.

Blonde, blue eyed, well proportioned, rich and wants to pamper an older experienced man. Now that's what I'd call a good offer and one I would be reluctant to refuse :cuppa
