Stupid question regarding the strikes

I'm quite a new part time postie, and a young guy (relatively ;) ), and I've never been on strike before. I was wondering if this all goes ahead and we end up striking, what do we actually have to do? Stay and home and do nothing? Show up at the office and shout abuse? Ha, I have no idea.

Any suggestions, serious or not, are welcome :D

It's up to you.
You're not required to attend and stand on the gate, but your colleagues would appreciate it.
You're allowed to stay home if you want.

The only thing that really matters, is that you do strike, and support each other in doing so.

Give up a days pay don't come in if you can get down to the office you will have a good laugh with everyone I did last time I did.

Or you could - as one confused employee did in a previous dispute - give a lift to work to a (female) manager who he was hoping to get a leg-over with...
then parked his car and went on the picket line outside the office

Then the next day, he criticised those that observed the strike by staying away from work as being 'not real strikers'

Believe it or not but i found it to be a real moral booster, standing with my colleagues for however long, knowing but without saying "we're in this together".

As your the newbie, these are things that you need to bring, they are standard for a strike

A barbeque, for cooking burgers and chestnuts, and 50 flasks of assorted, flasks, I suggest white coffee, splash of rum for medicinal reasons, as it helps keeps the cold out also Tea, at least 2 flasks must be Lapsang Souchong, as I know Posties who will appreciate its diverse flavour. Black coffee, etc you get the idea?

Also you have to volunteer to pay for it all and clean up after too... oh and don't forget the hot dogs and condiments let us know where your office is, and we will all see you there....Shhhh everyone

Yes don't hurl abuse - The gaffers will have plod round in a flash, and they suspend/discipline you afterwards.

Do you wear your uniform on the picket line?

I wasn't at RM when the last strike happened.
I don't want to turn up like that kid at school who forgot it was non-uniform day

Then if you are going to strike get yourself on the picket line,You will find this a great way to get to know your fellow workers.

I was only saying today that new starters in our office take ages to come out of their shells,Mainly because nobody has the time to talk to each other,No banter like there used to be,Im guessing alot of offices are the same.

Personal choice - the official pickets and the reps usually wear uniform to show who we are and why we are picketing. Others do what they want, but just check with someone who is going to avoid any sartorial fopar.
