Who decides what walks reserves do and why? I don't know if its the same for all offices, but in mine you could be on the same walk for months on end, then you could be on a different walk for a week or at worst a different walk everyday! I don't get it? It seems totally random like they pull names out of a hat or something?

The brown tongue brigade would have already approached the manager and bagged the best available duties (weeks in advance sometimes, they are a resourceful bunch). The worst duties will be allocated to any reserves who regularly cut off.

Moan too much about 'the system' and you'll find yourself in front of a full frame loaded with 100% d2ds.

The rest of the duties they indeed pull out of their arse.

This is what i don't get? I don't approach managers about duties, I never cut off, never question or moan about duties, and after 6 months on a so called 'worst duty' which i didn't think was so bad and liked, I suddenly get moved to a so called 'easy duty'? It just pisses me off, after making a walk my own and getting to know everyone on it they just suddenly say your gonna be on this walk from now on!? Why can't they just keep reserves on the same duty? at least until someone signs for it? I know they say its so you get to learn different walks, but unless its a rural or firms, there all the same, after a day or so you know your way around a walk!

I've done my so called cakewalk when I started, was left on that for about a year and a half! Which was another 'worst walk' no one would touch, but I loved it! Then I did a bit of hoilday cover, then I got put on this walk for 6 months, and to be honest I hated it like hell at first but then grew to love it, now they move me again!
Maybe thats it, as soon as they sense Im starting to enjoy it then its, "Move him!"
But Im guessing thats my point really, we're more productive on a walk we know, rather than getting moved round all the time. This seniority s**t is just a stupid outdated system which just lets the old guys get all the best walks we'll probably never see! It should be best man for the walk, but I guess thats something else beyond a managers intelligence to figure out?!

Welcome to the reserves club. Lucky they are not sending you to other offices. That sucks arse. They stopped that with me once I started demanding lifts to the offices and cutting off every time I went :-)

Luckily my office is very understaffed, we're an office people usually get sent to, thats probably why I had it so good as a reserve there. I just don't get there logic behind changing us around all the time? I mean there are some good sides to being on different rounds all the time, but its always better to stay on a walk you know.
