seniority

I had recently been made up to full time and have since been moved back to part time after asking to come back down to my old hours. I was one of the most senior part timers in my office.

What I want to know is do you lose your original part seniority if you go full time and then back to your old part time hours? Surely it would be the same. The same people are still there as was when I was originally part time. ( high up seniority)

I'm hoping its not a case of because I had gone full time, and then dropped back down to the part time hours I was doing before, the part timers who were originally below me in seniority are now above me because I went full time and dropped back down.

Seniority is simply length of service.
That doesn't change no matter what your contracted hours are.

We have a resign in the pipeline after the office completing a full revision but he is kicking off over the seniority part which has always resulted in people picking there own dutys.

I am p/t and am second on the list however a f/t came down to p/t knopcking me into third.

Unless there are 2 lists (Pt and Ft), you cannot really be knocked off your position on the seniority list...

There is nothing sinister about having 2 lists - it just makes the resign quicker. The 2 lists refer to the duty streams not seniority.

In most offices, there are FT/PT combinations for PL/Shared van jobs.

Since a part-timer cannot pick a FT job and vice versa, the picks can run side by side. It will not make any difference to the seniority per se. So a FT coming down to PT will not necessarily displace the most senior part-timer unless he has seniority in the first place.

I do not understand your reply... The duties are FT/PT combo - that is not my doing. But I like it that way because it seems to work in my experience and opinion.

I understand that some offices do not have FT/PT combinations but I cannot tell you whether this is a local issue or something that was designed as part of the Agreement and P&L/Shared vans.

But we had the Area came in to explain things before our revision and subsequent resign...
