£20 Million Quid A Year...

Hi All,

Sitting watching this farcical situation from the sidelines and it occurred to me when watching a Dave Ward video where he was speaking about 115,000 members being affected that I did a simple sum -
£3.43 union membership x 115,000 members x 52 weeks = £20 million quid a year!!

It seems to me that the decline in royal mail has been constantly visable over the last 15 years and the service worse, postmen more fed up and I have to ask myself just exactly what benefit has anyone in royal mail gotten for (15 years x £20 mill)
...ahem...the £300 million pounds you have all been paying that should have been used to stop this ever happening.

It would not be £20million but CWU like any organisation does not run on an empty tank. Salaries, pensions for executives working on our behalf etc. Business rates, Property Tax etc etc. Hire of Legal people, Solicitors, Barristers etc.
The Accounts for CWU are publicly available and will show you what their income and outgoings are.

The actual figures are £19,315,400 as the subs are £3.23 (the extra 20p is for the Political fund and shouldn't be used for anything elese)

However the £3.23 is based on a FT member - there are many PT members who pay a different amount based on their contractual hours - my Guess would be about £15,000,000.

Out of this they would have to pay for offices, release and allowances for reps, wages and allowances for staff and officers, rates/rent on property etc, and of course tax to the Government - it all adds up and I'd be surprised if they have anywhere near £15,000,000 in a saving account even after 10 years.

Total contributions last year were £29,776,936 Less: Political Fund Contributions (£1,663,041).

There is no breakdown per business but there are roughly 200,000 members of which about 115,000 work in Royal Mail.

I don't think the poor blokes been on holiday for a while, and I don't begrudge him a few sausage rolls after all he's got to keep his carbs up...we don't want him fainting, could be catestrophic

We shouldn't be knocking him, in all seriousness, until we walk a day in his shoes, especially these days...it cant be easy! cuppa
