How do you get promotion from a porter to a super sorter or visa versa how can you get yourself relegated to a porter

I had a dream some years ago that I'd walked into this confused netherworld of bizarre traditions and nonsensical archaic reasoning, inspired by Dad's Army, Porridge and Play School and the monkey enclosure in any edition of Animal Magic. I concluded that I'd lapsed (ha) into a coma by watching too much BBC1 and that one day soon things would jump back into a form of reality that I was familiar with; nearly 2 decades later I'm still there hoping that someone will wake me up...

Hope the porters have smaller spans than the rest of the office due to the amount of walking they will do indoors. Also what happens if the super sorters all have the same day off..

Surely no fully grown adult would permit themselves to wear a badge saying "super sorter"? Wouldn't anyone sane sort more slowly just to avoid it?

I thought the term "super sorter" had been done away with it as it reflected badly on other sorters/porters etc.

However the basic idea of putting your resources where they are most needed isn't really rocket science.

Just bear in mind the faster you sort,the more duties will increase in size.

Makes me laugh, we have people in our office that are fast sorters but are slow on delivery and visa versa
Some people may have done all the rounds in the office whilst others may have only done a few. Do they expect everyone is going to be the same speed??
Are they going to give badges for slow deliverers and super deliverers, no there not because all they are interested in is bullying staff getting us out on delivery to stop cut offs

Would it be inconceivable to think that as a porter there might be a chance of getting tips for providing a really sterling service to the preppers.

Our super sorters make it work by making a shitload of mis sorts and expect you to sort them into the ips yourself.
Where's the impetus to actually do the job properly if there's no need to correct your mistakes?
Plus it's a pain in the arse trying to sort missorts from the back of the frame.
I'd give the missorts to the porter but they've pretty much given up on that farce.

What's the difference to now, the faster sorters do loads more anyway. There are 20 year posties in my office who look at the boards for nearly every address despite going on IPS every day, it's a complete piss take. We'll be on group an hour, a couple of us will have rammed frames and when you get to these goons you pick out 3-4 letters per walk.

How can you do something day after day after day and never learn it? It gets on my tits.

Whereas at the moment, they get away with doing a completely inadequate amount of work and seem completely un-bothered by the fact their frames have hardly anything in them every day.

What would be fair is for the boxes to be shared out equally, then when you've done yours you can go.
