Not a discussion on the rights and wrongs over the current issues between RM and the CWU but how do people see this being resolved going forward?

I have to make a couple of large financial decisions over the next couple of months and the current uncertainty is unsettling.

Not wishing to take sides but there is a fear that we'll end up on strike for months losing 20% of our wages each week only for the CWU to cave in with a wonder deal that gives RM 95% of what it asked for and us being told how lucky we are and if it hadn't been for the CWU it would have been much worse...... cough 2009!₩

I can't personally afford to strike, but cannot afford not to, if you get me so have shifted various savings about including the kids temporarily to prepare for the s**t that's coming.

I also have one or two decisions, that with the upcoming "storm" is making me think twice.

Wish I could see 30 years in the future and see what it holds for us all.

I think a lot of us are in this position but can we afford not to strike ?
The answer to that is no we must walk or it's race to the bottom time.

Cold Hard Facts Time!! The "privatisation will go through.... no problem [ too many im alright jacks and an utterly spineless "union" for the powers that be to worry about.

This will eventually lead to [in next 3 years] more a PT staff ...more and more agency staff ...monthly pay.. ..your conditions will be slowly but surely be eroded [guranteed] Lots and lots of temp staff and an
"us and them culture" will flourish .. The big bosses will love this...

And morale will be even more rock bottom than it is now. You can Point your finger at the bosses ...point your finger at the union but I really beleive its your selfish colleges who are the real problem As Ive said I'M ALRIGHT JACK ....BUT YOU WONT BE FOR TOO MUCH LONGER.....shameful!!!!

You can't afford to strike but have savings to shift about? A lot of posties I know are the sole earner and live from week to week, just about surviving with zero savings.

I pulled out of the union a few years ago after the horrible agreements they told members to vote for, but I wouldn't ever dream of going in on a strike day.

Arthur RM has already stated that the workforce will be predominantly full time, though of course it was supposed to be 75/25, which of course is now 69/31 so we know we can totally trust them to keep their word and the CWU will be closely monitoring the ratio

I did exactly the same for the same reason,but would not cross a picket line either.We will be privatised,too much money in it for the government not to,at least the Tories are up front about it,whilst Labour were trying to do it on the sly when in power.

In the short term, it's really hard to say. But - with the first possible strike day being Wednesday, October 23 - I'd say we're looking at one-strike-day-a-week going into early to middle November. So, 2 to 5 strike days in total?

Neither side wants to see this through into Christmas, so some sort of agreement will be muddled together.

I can see us striking for few days but if it is longer than a week, it won't work as it will be struggle for people to live on without pay. I can't see many of us willing to strike for 3 weeks non stop.

and people won't like to come back to office if they finish say 20 minutes early to clock off especially if they live on the walk.

I hardly think £1500 of my 11 year olds money I've saved in her account since birth is much to shout about, I am the sole bread winner too, just gives me a little breathing space
