I had a recorded delivery today but the woman who answered the door said she's basically blind, only a wee bit of sight. She was old are really frail too and wasn't confident in using the PDA. No one else was home either, pretty sure she lives alone anyway.
I typed in my own name and signed it after making sure it was ok with her if i done this. Am i supposed to do this?
I tried to see my dom when i got back but as usual he'd fled.
I know there are a couple of blind people on my round so if this ever happens again what's the procedure?

Strangely this happened to me many years ago when I had just started and the old lady told me the regular postie signed for her, so I did the same and reported the fact when I got back. Everything was fine.
I had my induction training several weeks later and I brought it up with the trainer who told me that in no circumstances should I have signed for anything and I should have left a 739 so someone could pick it up for her.
If the same situation arose again I would sign it and face the consequences, citing possible disability discrimination on the part of RM for not having a braille version of a PDA.

Wouldn't worry about it, ive done it a few times and most time customers just put a dot or line in the box!

I have to sign for an elderly person, I put their name in and my own and sign my name never had a problem yet.

So always DWS it - or you could end up in trouble if for instance a relative thinks the item is missing and checks RM website and sees a signature.
