Royal Mail going wrong way about things

Sir, – I refer to the letter from Paul Kelly, Royal Mail Director (Committed to quality service, September 16).

It is a joke. Seemingly, Royal Mail is wholly committed to delivering the highest level of customer service to customers in the PH postcode.

On more than one occasion we have noticed the lack of postal deliveries in our street. Notably two weeks ago on my birthday I received no mail although friends and family assured me they had posted cards well in time with first class stamps. Even as an adult I was most disappointed not to receive any cards. Can you imagine how a child would have felt?

Last week my husband ordered some items from the internet and was advised they would arrive Wednesday or Thursday by the latest.

When they arrived on Friday we asked the postman what caused the delay. He informed us that due to him not willing to work overtime he held back mail for our street and also another street in the village with the result no mail was delivered to us on a Thursday. He told us no-one was willing to cover the overtime.

It would appear this has been on going for some time, although it was not noticed until my birthday. I would have thought this was illegal.

My husband phoned to complain and was told we would be contacted within 72 hours. We are still waiting. If the Royal Mail want the public behind them they are going the wrong way about it.

We can, yes. We have children. Royal Mail however, don't seem to give a damn.

It's illegal, yes. We know all about it. It's US that have to tell the manage we can't cope with the workload and can't finish on time. It's US that have been doing overtime we didn't want for ages. It's US that have finally given up, washed our hands of the whole affair and left it to managers to sort out the mess. Don't waste your breathe telling US. We KNOW. Try your MP.

Because my duty is too big and don't have time to do parcels my cage now has Thursday Friday Saturday and today's parcels in it. The guy who normally covers these on overtime has been told that they aren't willing to pay any overtime. What a disgrace Royal Mail is. Trying so show a totally false image to private investors. Don't know if it is the same in all offices. One thing for sure is I won't be using Royal Mail to deliver my parcels if I have a choice.

Royal mail have no plan B for handling growth in online shopping. Parcels are part of USO and it is a failure not to deliver on the day. Some doms fiddle the books

Delaying parcels been going on for years.My ex Dom used it as a reason to get rid of me with a little help from my line manager.This line manager actually knew about the parcels that were left on my day off needless to say he then colluded with Dom to fabricate evidence.I was dismissed for wilful delay.So beware of these practices i was a victim of RM staffing cull and its not over from what i read on hear
