Miles covered on the rural...

Covering one of the rural duties today and thought I would take a note of the total mileage I covered, 72 miles - that included a round trip of 20 miles on the missort run tho - how many miles do other posties on rural shifts cover on a daily basis?...

I doubt ours are anything like that long. Prob about 25 miles max.

All ours are about 30-35 miles. On the subject of rurals had a bit of an odd request the other day from some planner type who appeared in the office... I'm the only leave reserve who knows them all and he wanted me to give a detailed break down of each rural duty as to how much time is spent driving and how much time is spent on foot!

He greatly overestimated my commitment to the job if he really expected me to have that kind of info stored in my head!

About 56 miles....and linos STILL complain when I don't leave parcels with neighbours despite some of the more isolated delivery points being up to a mile and a quarter apart from each other.

i do 35ish mostly going forwards sometimes going backwards and quite a lot of the time on 2 wheels

60-70 round trip , a bit longer on a Saturday due to a collection.

We don't have them in our office any more, but we used to. Basically, it's where after the IPS, one driver from each local delivery office takes the missorts for other local offices, and they all meet in a central location (a central DO) - they exchange the missorts and go back to their own office with their own mail.

I only cover one rural, and it's an 89 mile round trip. There's a couple of longer ones... nightmare in winter.

120 miles is our longest, mine's around 100.

120 miles means 24 mph for finishing within five hours, so can't be many delivery points to hinder their progress then.

139 miles but just over half of that is driving to the first call and returning from the last so the actual miles done delivering is only about 65 miles.

I thought mine was long at 86 miles, but its a holiday compared to yours. I do 12 miles to my first call and about the same return to office.
