Found these today

Monday, September 23rd: On Friday, Royal Mail scrapped a proposal to cap pensionable pay rises at the rate of inflation, up to 5 percent maximum, caving in to pressure from staff in order to protect its £3 billion IPO from the threat of a strike. The upcoming Royal Mail IPO, announced on September 12, has met the opposition of employees represented by the Communication Workers Union (CWU), who have threatened to start a strike over pay, conditions and pensions. The Friday offer to Royal Mail’s staff will allow increases for a majority of CWU-represented grades to accrue towards the final salary scheme. The union polled 115,000 members on Friday, as announced last week, with the results expected on October 16. If the workers vote ‘yes’ to the strike, the earliest actions could start on October 23, the likely date of Royal Mail’s IPO.The company pays £400 million annually into the final salary scheme to keep benefits at current levels and has said that without the proposed change the sum could rise to £700 million. Under Friday’s proposal Royal Mail is going to keep pumping £400 million and will absorb the cost of the proposal.“Royal Mail is making an important improvement to our pension proposal. We are doing so following feedback from the recent consultation,” the company said.According to union sources quoted by The Sunday Times, Royal Mail’s offer is being evaluated, after a proposed 8.6 percent increase over three years has already been rejected by the CWU. According to a Ipsos Mori poll, 72 percent of respondents answered the CWU should accept the pay offer and cancel the strike, while 78 percent of those polled found the 8.6 percent offer “very fair” or “fair”.

Royal Mail pay agreement reached

Talks aimed at resolving a long running dispute over pay and working practices at the Royal Mail ended in agreement.A proposed package will be recommended to the executive of the Communication Workers Union next week. The two sides have been holding talks for weeks in a bid to resolve issues including the scrapping of second deliveries.A joint statement said: "The Royal Mail and the CWU are pleased to report that we have reached a conclusion to our talks."The CWU will be recommending a package to their executive next week and both parties have agreed to refrain from discussing details publicly in order to respect internal consultative processes. Further details will be issued next week."The talks covered pay, agreement to move to single deliveries, and the London Weighting allowance. The agreement raises hopes of improved industrial relations in the Royal Mail followed a series of wildcat strikes in October which crippled deliveries.

No it is not true !!!

Royal Mail will try and trick you into believing we are close to a deal in order to make you consider which way you vote and whether you need to vote.

1. There is still no pay deal. Royal Mail have still not taken away the strings which are , we have to agree the pension changes , we have to agree a no strike deal and we have to accept new ways of working under the agenda for growth which will include increasing absorption without knowing the detail. In addition years 2 and 3 are not guaranteed as they have reopener clauses.

2. On pensions there is still no deal and what has been leaked has not been offered in negotiations. Moreover the fact they can change the pensions again in 2018 is still on the table.

3. On terms and conditions there are massive differences. Royal Mail are only saying that they will not outsource core services which equates to less then 50 per cent work. It is not underwritten by the Government. After 3 years your terms and conditions fall off a cliff as any new owner can outsource and franchise your delivery route and offices , collection routes and mail centres. Equally Royal Mail want reopener clauses before the end of 3 years due to profit levels.

4. On work place issues there are further talks this Thursday and Friday including Royal Mails desire to staff to traffic rather then to the amount of duties in your office which will stop for the need Royal Mail to do revisions in the future because they can cut jobs and move people as traffic drops without a negotiation.

The ballot will go ahead and it is essential to vote yes.

I'll go by past experience.
I fully expect them to back off the pension...for the moment.
I believe they knew they would right from the start, the whole pension issue smacks of an engineered fight to draw our fire away from the issues of our terms and conditions and privatisation.
Start a ruck over pensions, get it tangled up with the other issues and then at the last minute pull back leaving the members thinking they've won and wondering why they should still strike.
At no point have Royal Mail made a case for these pension changes, the pension isn't in deficit and it isn't in financial trouble.

Even the way they've leaked it is an attempt to make the union look stupid.
We're being played for fools....again. :cuppa

The bit I quoted above is from the SDD dispute and was resolved nearly 10 years ago.
