4hrs out in torrential rain, clothes stuck to me. Everything off, coffee, then school run, get home another coffee at 320, next thing I know I wake up at 545! Wife and kids nearly home expecting tea, youngest playing alone in her bedroom, andim still sooooooooooooooooooooo tired, and have fri and sat to work yet!

This isnt normal, this job is killing me, anything could have happened when I was asleep.

Anyone else just inwittingly drift off to sleep ?

Every day.
I'm usually home about 3.20 but you're home, changed, coffee, school run and another coffee by 3.20 - must be a nice little walk you have.

Everything now revolves around rest and recuperation - I never work days off or overtime other than completing my own duty - holidays spaced equally (as far as possible) throughout the year to give me a regular break. ..Since we started the P&L, the longer walks have really taken it out of my knees hips and feet to the extent that I have (temporarily) given up other activities that I enjoyed. But ... I will be retiring next summer and if I don't collapse before then I will start to get back to a normal life.
I know that there are much younger people than me in my office who finish every day exhausted and where they have young families that need their attention I can imagine that stress is added to fatigue ! - Surely no job should demand so much of people, where their quality of life is ruled by constant budgeting and target chasing?

Once upon a time long ago when I was a young single whipper snapper I used to go back to bed for a couple of hours after a soaking. It was pure heaven.

You're right Jimmy always have a bit of a "Nodding Dog" in the afternoon. I think the Trendies and Jummie Mummies call it a "Power Nap" I just call it "Bastard Knackered"!
My Grandson does his best to keep me awake...I love the little bugger ...BUT sometimes I wish he was playing somewhere else.

I remember when we used to up at 4 and start at 5, I still used to have a kip but I could just let my alarm clock (Non 24 Hr) continue ticking and it would wake me up at 4 in the afternoon as well! Result.

wow, thought this was just me and at 28 i wonder how the older generation do it, i have 2 young girls and when i pick them up and once ive stopped i barley find the motivation to lift a finger.
quite worrying and letting them down is bullshit, naps are well needed in this job now.

And there was me thinking I was falling asleep in the afternoon because I was getting old ! (I am 45) Certainly feel older since we started working like this. My alarm on my phone is set for 3 o'clock, habit of falling asleep and don't want my daughter waiting at school.

Recently our collections were revised and I find my overtime now is nuts... 7am to 2pm, 2hr break between (either sit on site or go home) and then start again 4pm to 830pm.. Back home for 9pm.. to bed.. up at 6am to start all over again.... ofc I could turn down the OT but on a 20hr contract I need the £££! Zzzzzzz

Woke up at 3.05 though, daughter to be picked up from school at 3.15!! Luckily I only live 5 minutes from school.

Our finishing time is 3:30.. so we are usually still out at 4:00.
