Under the new revisions in the Derby Delivery Office postmen now have less than 60 Seconds to deliver a parcel to an address. This gives the postman or post woman no time to leave the item with a neighbour. The item will be returned to the delivery office waiting for the recipient to collect. GOOD NEWS for competing parcel companies!!!!!

as for competing companies why do you see parcels left in the rain or left where there seen and nicked
every day i see how other companies deliver i would not trust any of them.

Not a new item - more of a 2010 and beyond - moved into that area

While not disagreeing with you Clash, what it appears is that these times have been made up by someone who doesn't actually do deliveries.

When I was on deliveries, one minute is how long it took most people to get to the door.

But what's clearly missing now is times for 'deliver to neighbour'.

Of course this would be quite a complex task to get it into Geo Route, because all rounds would be different. For example a terraced house would allow far less time than a rural village.

But it needs doing in my opinion and the union should be pushing for this change if they aren't already

Are these times from the moment you press the bell? as I understand it from my now 20 year old training you are supposed to wait for 1 minute before putting a card in.

45 seconds per attendence call has been quoted around our office all summer by managers, surely this is not a way to save money by making reducing the outdoor's spans biggest time drainer.

As above - can't be bothered with delivering to neighbour, too bloody far apart. No time as it is and certainly no time for pissing about with cheap gimmicks like that.

if any of your training colleagues went to the last training session last week then they would of been told the the time given to deliver a packet is 2 minutes waiting before you start writing a 739 out. p.s can,t wait for our revision the planner is gonna get such a shock from us lot :)

Two minutes sounds more respectable, somehow I doubt that's what we have been given or will be given in any future revision. There will be some average thing going on, management-babble where they tell you you'll get rid of some in less than thirty seconds and a small minority might take two minutes, therefore we propose one minute is a good average.. In reality, we all know what the truth is.

Then of course we're told to ring/knock and wait, but if we don't have enough time built in to wait and 739 something before they answer they complain and then managers moan at us because of complaints!
