Being a conspiricary theorist i cant help but think this has been changed to tie in with us being privatised.

If you "work" the sick system it is now better than ever,Your warning only lasts 6 months instead of 12,Giving people more oppourtunities to have more time off sick,In this day and age who can blame any postman for wanting more time off work.

Strong rumour is we will all have to apply for our jobs again (Hope it is a rumour)

THe 1st thing they will look at are sick records,If you are someone taking advantage of the lenient nature of this sick procedure then it gives them excellent reason not to re-employ you.

Thats my thinking anyway,I Hope im miles off the mark.

we will not need to re apply for our jobs. managers potentially yes but us ordinary posties will not, the only way they could get us to do this would be the removal of the agreement with the CWU on no compulsory redundancy's, when you see that agreement come down then yes its time to worry

More likely in ~5 years time most of us will be looking for a way out, as the hourly wage drops and falls further behind inflation, possibly towards minmum wage. Don't forget, not all things agreed to between CWU and RM are honoured in the spirit they were intended.

If you were looking for a conspiracy it will simply be that they stop paying us for our first three sick days of any sick absence.
That's considered normal out there in the private sector and would be my guess for the long or not so long run.
Nobody "plays" a system with no pay.

I agree with FT the 1st 3 days sick may not be paid (which is an industry standard). IF we loose any sort of sickness benefits you can blame all those "crafty" posties that have been taking the piss out of the system for years!

Just like you can probably thank those same guys, who have been "Ghosting" and taking the piss out of the overtime system for many years. Finally making the Management crack down on ALL hardworking posties who are working Properly!
