POST OFFICE: PAY 2012 AND BEYOND AND THE FUTURE OF THE CROWN OFFICE NETWORK – UNITE MEMBERS VOTE YES FOR STRIKE ACTION


I am pleased to announce that Unite members who are Managers working in Crown Offices and Admin and Supply Chain have voted in favour of taking both strike action and action short of strike action. The ballot results, which closed on Friday 13th September, was as follows:

Yes votes 52% Yes votes 68%


This is excellent news and further demonstrates how the Post Office is undervaluing their workforce. It also adds a further pressure point on the Post Office, they now have to listen to its employees, who are protesting across the piece over pay freezes.


Pertinently, the communications from Unite to their members, states: ‘There is surely something wrong when the members of the two unions within the Post Office vote to take action and our message to the Post Office is to get back round the table and negotiate a sensible deal’.


The CWU are in close liaison with Brian Scott, National Officer for Unite, representing managerial grades across Crown Offices, Supply Chain and Admin. Where possible, we will be looking to coordinate action and further developments in this regard will be reported.
