Who is responsible for prepping d2d in morn?, I'm part time and regularly go in at 9 to find mail still to be prepped and d2d untouched, full timers leaving office before 9(with their part timers who go in early and work for nothing) , managers line is we have 30 mins of our prep time to make d2d up,
I always thought the reason we get pro rata payments for d2ds is because full timers were to prep them,

firstly there is no payment for d2d items.Martyb wrote:Who is responsible for prepping d2d in morn?, I'm part time and regularly go in at 9 to find mail still to be prepped and d2d untouched, full timers leaving office before 9(with their part timers who go in early and work for nothing) , managers line is we have 30 mins of our prep time to make d2d up,

you need to look at your 318 to find out what work you are expected to do in your duty time, the work load for part timers varies from office to office, some will have to do some prep, some none, some do d2d, some dont there is no national agreement on what they do, it is all in your duty 318

Re: D2d prep
I work with a part-time, he starts at 7.30 and does his own d2ds.
He doesn't have any prep done on a Monday/Tuesday but has the first lot of mech thrown off on a Wed/Thurs/Fri.
Agree it varies from office to office, and also from manager to manager

Re: D2d prep
Does he get paid to come in at 7:30?, the amount of people who come in early in my office are doing people out of a job as there is not enough ft to cover all the work in morn but the people who come inn and work for nothing cover it so there is no way management are going to use any of his bonus( office budget) to cover itLou84 wrote:I work with a part-time, he starts at 7.30 and does his own d2ds.

The only rule of thumb is that they can ask you to do anything that you have been trained for, or can be expected to do without training, during your contracted hours. The more indoor stuff you have to do the less outdoor time you will have.Martyb wrote:Who is responsible for prepping d2d in morn?, I'm part time and regularly go in at 9 to find mail still to be prepped and d2d untouched, full timers leaving office before 9(with their part timers who go in early and work for nothing) , managers line is we have 30 mins of our prep time to make d2d up,
However, if there are no D2Ds in, and you cannot finish the delivery within your hours then advise your manager ASAP and let them make a decision. They'll get pissed off eventually and will get the D2D situation sorted - the squeaky wheel and all that,

Re: D2d prep
Totally agree with tbt, don't go in early, if u have d2d to do them and prep what mail U have too, then do ur redirections and tie down ur walk, then if u don't have enough time for ur delivery span, remember this includes travel time and pouch off, then leave mail, but ALWAYS let Dom know that u can't achieve ur delivery

I think what you said there actually hits a very large nail on the head and its probably a large part of what's wrong in RM.Jimmy Carr`s laugh wrote:Our office runs on person ability. The harder you work, the better you are at your job, the worse you get treated, the less help you get. The more useless you are, the more help you get. Im on 39 hrs, do all my own duty, 2-3 hrs ips on my own, prep all my own d2d, etc etc, and theres guys on 35 hrs, who have their duty pretty much fully prepped, they come in , bag up and leave. They leave as im starting to prep my letters that ive just finished from ips. Some PnLs have ALL their packets taken off them, and have 2 people prepping the 2 duties, wheras others have 1 guy prepping 2 duties and they take all their packets.Martyb wrote:Does he get paid to come in at 7:30?, the amount of people who come in early in my office are doing people out of a job as there is not enough ft to cover all the work in morn but the people who come inn and work for nothing cover it so there is no way management are going to use any of his bonus( office budget) to cover itLou84 wrote:I work with a part-time, he starts at 7.30 and does his own d2ds.

Thers nomaly 3 of us doing the ips, between us, for between 2-3 hrs. The other 2 guys are fecking useless and regularly stay out till 3-4 pm, so they get their rounds prepped by PT guys , why they do ips. Im very quick, and usually get back around 1, so I get NO help whatsoever. I cansee why managers help them, but it feels like im being s**t on for being efficient.

Work to your time. If you can do them in your time then do them. If you can't then cut off and bring stuff back. They'll soon find someone to prep them for you then.

no its 2013, 318s still exist, in fact as part of your offices revision, new ones were meant to be producedbringon4dayweeks wrote:318 ? its not 1992zx135 wrote:firstly there is no payment for d2d items.Martyb wrote:Who is responsible for prepping d2d in morn?, I'm part time and regularly go in at 9 to find mail still to be prepped and d2d untouched, full timers leaving office before 9(with their part timers who go in early and work for nothing) , managers line is we have 30 mins of our prep time to make d2d up,

They're a nonsense as they don't work in practice, but still, they should be produced.

Re: D2d prep
Im part time. 9.30-2.30 but have been asked to go in at 8.30 each morning with an hours overtime to finish any prepping. It all depends on who with your working with. Last week my postie partner only put in the sequence mail so I started with a massive heap of mail on my frame plus the d2ds. If we go out later than 10am then we just wont finish ontime. The two weeks previous to last week my postie partners nailed the lot before I came in so all I had to do was redirections, killoffs and packets.
I tell you last week was a mare. Going into a new frame and having to sort most of the mail, prep d2ds,killoffs,redirections and packets in an hour and a half isnt a nice way to start the morning. According to my manager most of this is meant to be done for me as they dont wanna be paying you overtime.Going out late is frowned upon. If you come in and its not done the the postie you work with is being lazy.
I was asked to come in at 6.30 one morning to prep 2 frames from scratch of which id only ever done them once before whilst my partner that week was told to do the ips/packets. I managed to prep them including d2ds by 8.45!!
There is no excuse for most of your frame not to be prepped for you.!
