D2D question

There's a lot of confusion about the actual agreed way of delivering D2D again. DIM's were quite happy within a unit for D2D to be delivered however, as long as it was all done by the end of the week. They've now added coloured columns to frames and insisted at least 20% has to go out on a Monday and Tuesday and are threatening conduct if this isn't done although all D2Ds will be delivered by the end of the week. Any agreement on this method?

I dont think so. The agreement says that as long as they are delivered in accordance with the customers contract it is up to the delivery officer. However the preferred method is that 1/6th per day are prepped and delivered even to those delivery points where there is no other mail. This way the workload is spread across the week and the rota cover person does his/her fair share of the D2ds.

Given that the iwt will allocate the required amount of time/day and the call rate should reflect 16% being done each day with the attendant cold calling, you have to wonder how people have the time to do anything else.
If you can prep them all and deliver them all on Monday, for example, either you are doing unpaid overtime or you have too much time on your hands.
Why would you want to do none on Monday and Tuesday when you have the time given, unless you want to make time on those days? And how would you do them all in the remaining days? And what would happen if you went sick on Wednesday leaving someone else to do all the D2D?
Although the agreement originally stated you could do what you want as long as you did them all, what is difficult about doing them by section over the week?

I agree Clash. Far easier to do a column per day or whatever 1/6th is and far easier to follow for anyone covering you.

The colour coded column system is not agreed by the CWU. Our manager tried to do the same recently. As stated, 16% a day, prepped into your fitting after the mail is sorted is the standard expected. Admittedly, 16% is just a guideline, mind you.
