Can you be sacked for not working over your time?

Nope! I cut off today. Probably could of stayed an hour or so but it was heavy today I just couldn't be arsed! Only do overtime if you want! And NEVER work for free!

Just feeble threats.

"Occasionally" is this everyday, once a week, once a month or "occasionally maybe when a bulk delivery comes in", oh and will this be paid on time, our overtime.

I'm sure it was said but are your office pansies or something. Of course you don't need to work overtime. Your union rep should have taken him to task but he's probably got some deal with the dom.

i think its more that he's a new dom and trying to sweep clean, albeit very heavy handidly, although all those that witnessed the incident were shocked that the union felt their hands were tied and couldnt react and yes the "occaisional overtime" needs clarifying, and not left to the personal interpretation of any manager

To be fair to Harrap, the new PT contracts are different from us FT guys, and they do ask that you be available for OT, and that you must be able to drive. I cant do either, so its a good job I started 21 years ago. 2 guys at our place, ex army, had interviews with flying colours, but both had problems with OT as 1 had kids and the other had a 2nd job. Both where knocked back in favour of 2 doleys who`d work 90hrs a week if they could.

agreed, the guy in question had only been there 18 months and was taken on with the driving included in his contract and most likely the availabilty for OT clause as well, the reason i first replied was to tell the guy to be careful
