Special leave, bereavement.

My father past away early hours Friday morning 6/9/13 and I have been told by my manager I am entitled to 5 days paid leave.
He has however said this 5 days runs consecutively from the Friday and includes the Sunday and my day off (Tuesday).
So basically I am getting paid until Tuesday.
Any other leave would be considered annual leave.
This does not seem right to me, surely 5 working days (or one week which it says on the special leave guide that he gave me) would mean I should be paid up to and including Thursday.

its five working days you get, that does not include the sunday or your rota day off, speak to your rep asap

To think in your hour of need, having the requirement for some special leave - your manager is grabbing the opportunity to rob you.

You are entitled to FIVE days special leave, plus ONE for the service. As your caring manager is trying to use S/L days for Sunday & your rostered day off. You might run out today. If this is the case - go to see your GP.

so sorry to hear of your loss , i dont think anybody can put a time frame on how a bereavement can affect somebody so take what you need , if you dont feel ready to return after the 5 days see your gp and get a sick paper.

Thanks everyone, got it sorted. Manager was being a bit thick. He has told me to take as long as I need.
