I would have to agree that continual phone calls are a form of harassment although depending upon the unit it could be a sign of your manager's desperation. Having phoned in sick and explained the nature of your illness and given an estimated return to work date you should be allowed to recover at home without being bombarded by calls which could delay your recovery if it causes undue anxiety. A courtesy call after a couple of days (or more depending on the nature of your illness) is fine as RM need to plan their resources and giving them an estimate of when you will return to work is only fair.

Log the number of calls, when they were made and report to your local rep on return to work.

last time i was off sick i had my manager on the line every day for 3 days so i informed him if he rang me again that week i would be putting in a grievance against him for harrasment when i returned to work.didnt call again.

All we have to do is phone in on the morning of sickness then let them know when we will be back. Last week I was off sick and the manager just said 'leave a message on the answerphone' and that was that. Didn't hear a thing. I guess it varies from office to office, just like every other aspect of this job.

The last time i was off the manager phoned me the same day i'd rang in and personally spoken to him about it. Also got an absence letter through the door that day.
I told him i'd be off at least 3 days but the next day he phoned me at 6:30am, 8am and then again at 12pm because i didn't answer the first two times. (knew it was him)
I forgot that day 3 was actually my day off but the bugger turned up at my door

It's annoying and pointless.
I've never had any other employer do that.

if you get hold of his mobile no just text him. when he phones you your phone will recognise the no so ignore but! keep a log of how many. because and I quote ( if you have no written evidence then it does not matter)

Check with your phone provider, they may have an option to block any call coming from a withheld number

I went off sick,The next morning a letter was posted asking me to attend a meeting the next day to see what they could do to get me back into work,I rang the boss and told him i was too ill and he could come to my house,He never did.
This is happening to everyone who goes off sick in our office,It is not an agreed procedure yet the union shithouse rep lets it go on.
