i've raised issues with our union area rep lately re collapsing duties,
not a problem booking over if i can do it, i've got a good oppo and we usually get done in time anyway.
my argument is on the busy days our managers prep duties, even walk some!
rep can't grasp that 1 or 2 would be made up to full time if these leeches were forced to stop doing our jobs,
i would gladly do 1 hours prep on overtime, but our managers keep thieving our hours, its not our fault that we are understaffed at times,
he's more interested that we should all use our trolliies, we were issued with 1 per van?
and that i cannot drop my oppo off on the way back, which i drive pass his house, i can see the latter as a point, but if we are "just over" why pay him 15/30 mins just to pouch off?
i also raised an issue about a £200 revision payment which is well overdue, his excuse was that we still had things to resolve that were unknown to all?
it really makes me wonder if my area rep is on our side, getting to the stage where i can only justify my sub in case of a serious personal issue

This is how useless I find the cwu in my area! Im on my way out very soon ....royal mail want me out for telling the truth.
I'M not even gonna bother with union help[even though im a member] when they come to push me ..cos I find them spineless and ineffective... thats our sad it is.

I do appreciate your position, and you have my sympathies ! I reckon your colleagues will view you as a throw back to the militant days, when unions were stronger and had some principals - that is their existence was purely to support beleaguered ill done by members ! Unfortunately the strength of any union is reflective of its members and we have too many " I'm all right Jacks" who are not prepared to support others and take the view that existing problems or inequalities will never arrive on THEIR doorstep.
In that future eventual event, they will have the loudest voice in seeking support from others. Your point about CWU being too cosy with management has an element of truth, my worry is that over a long period of time there has been a steady erosion of morale within members and our leadership have failed to act upon it - open gates and bolting horses spring to mind !!!

No, they only do it to improve EP figures etc, this practice should be stopped NOW !
We need to focus on securing the hours required for ANY opg work - only "pressure overtime" worked gets any reaction or attention from DSM's

Nothing to stop them, it just shows they don't have enough to do of their own. I couldn't do any of their work in my time, hardly got time to break wind.

I thought there was an agreement with the CWU that states managers aren't to do OPG work.
That's what my boss told me.
According to my boss, they are allowed to do 15 mins a day as a last resort to ensure the workload gets completed.
Not that it matters in my office, managers won't even do their own work, let alone any of ours.
