Duty getting tested

One of my fellow posties is going to get his duty tested what can he expect? any advice for him?

make sure you filter the mail at every door, use footpaths, do not cut across gardens, use correct equipment, ie, lwt, hct, van share, and remember, its not a race!!!

He should remember it's the duty that's getting tested.Not the individual....So don't panic and cut corners.

Do NOT let them pressure your mate to cut corners , they make the stupid rules and turn a blind eye to corner cutting when it suits THEM but minute something goes wrong its a conduct code issue so follow the stupid rules ! Hope it goes well

Dont worry if its a manager testing you they will be knackered in half an hour and want to get back inside!!!

As has already been said just do the job properly, follow SSOW/SOPs and use the correct equipment for the job, take any RA and meal breaks you are entitled to.

Work at a rate that you could sustain for a 3 or 4 hour period without exhausting yourself. It is this area that is purely subjective, the manager does not have the skills or the qualifications to assess your BSI (only qualified IEs holding a current rating card are allowed to assess this ... and even they make mistakes). If the manager does question your work rate, inform your DO rep and seek a 2nd opinion from someone who is qualified to give it ... though I suspect if you play your cards right it will never come to this.

If you've asked to get you're job tested because you're jobs too long,and you're cutting off now and then , and they come up with the chestnut we have no magic solution, can I demand it get tested? Our place is a mess and there's no action plan at all .

You had deliveries of under 300 calls before revision? What types of houses do you deliver to, as obviously that makes a massive difference to walk times. 600 calls is about the lowest in our office, highest is close to 1000 and prep times are around 1hr 45.
