Is it feck! You DONT have to take your meal relief if it suits you.

If your meal relief is scheduled for 10 - 10.40 for example, and you are paid until 14.00, then the fact you have skipped your meal relief is of no interest to anyone.
Your employer can tell you when to take your break. They can insist you work all your contracted hours.
It would depend on the arrangements in your office. If the arrangement is a split break 20/20 then you can spend the last 20 minutes away from work.

We've bin told its a 40 min meal relief to be taken at the end of delivery , every friggin days a struggle now with bosses as loads a jobs are not working , ppl don't wanna be hours past there time on the street and have life's outside of r m . Couple guys are really badly stressed with things and are not coping ,, our reps non existent ,no advice nothing ,interested in 1person only. Bring on the strikes!

They cannot schedule your full meal relief at the end of your duty.
If your unit rep isn't any help, contact your Area rep.

I think it is more likely that they are trying to punish him because he works to his time. Problem is that he probably also leaves his break to the end of the day and they are asking him to stay (ie sit) in the delivery office until his official break has finished rather than being allowed to go home. I don,t know what the position is on this, as I thought that you were entitled to leave the employers property whilst taking your break. Does anyone else have any information on this as it appears that this tactic is being employed in a lot of offices recently.

Why don't we just give up our paid meal relief as nobody really seems bothered about taking it.
I'm sure if they bung us a fiver, we'll vote for it......

Yes there is. It's called The Way Forward agreement.
It says you can't take all your break at the end of your shift.

Way Forward agreement states that breaks can be split eg 20 + 20, it also says if the second break is scheduled at end of duty there is no need to remain in the office ie you can go home at the start of the final break.

Regardless of the Way Forward people should be taking a break of no less than 20 minutes as reasonably close to the middle of their working day as possible.

Employers can say when workers take their rest break during work time as long as:

the break is taken in one go somewhere in the middle of the day (not at the beginning or end)
the worker is allowed to spend it away from their desk or workstation (ie away from where they actually work)

If an employer says a worker should go back to work before their break is finished, it doesn’t count as a rest break.

Unless their employment contract says so, workers don’t have the right to:

take smoking breaks
get paid for their rest breaks
