Still don't know what a manager does!

2 years into our revision, now collapsing duties 6 days a week, some still failing to get finished on time!
Yet still we have 6 or managers in our office who don't seem to do anything for their wages.
When ours has a day off , no one bothers to manage us and we get on with it with no problems. We don't need these people.
Ours has at least 12 ciggie breaks between 7 and 9 , umpteen drinks of coffee, then just stares at us working in between texting his birds.
Until all these lazy managers get out on the street, then it will be the same old royal fail. Thank you, rant over.

Looked up today to see 5 managers standing at the end of the ips, 1 with clip board in hand, others doing......well nothing. Been like this for months. quick calculation of how many letters/items need to be delivered to pay the wages of this lot...for what. surely 3 could go and there jobs be lapsed.... the remaining 2 taking on the extra workload.....sounds familiar!!

They actually wave us goodbye with our vans full to the brim, then they go back indoors for a 4 hour teabreak before leaving early.

The frightening thing about it is if you think they do nothing while you are there then think how little they must do once your office is empty...

If ever there was a job designed for part-time working it's line manager,just about justifiable when there are hundreds of OPGs running about and mail to be sorted but kind of ludicrous when it's just down to the caller's office,the cleaner and six managers.

Somebody has to go round the frames and see if they can find a sneaky letter that has got stuck at the back of the frame.
How could they conduct anyone for wilful delay if they didn't do that?

Somebody has to redistribute the D2D that have mysteriously appeared in the corner of the DO between walks where no-one will complain about delivering the excess.

It isn't all just tea and putting on weight.

Well surely moya must be aware of this is there any legal requirement that means x amount of managers have to be on the premises, is the reason? or are they really just on stand-by to cover walks etc....

It seems the biggest waste of money keep paying some of these managers to stand about doing naff all.. makes no sense at all.

It is not designed to make sense to us. It is part of the overall plan to make us plebs feel nervous and either jump ship or be forced out. This process has a limited life span and the moment the targets are reached you will see these jobs vanish as quickly as they have been established.

After 5 years of having a CSS operator act as supervisor as part of our 6 man night crew we now have a "manager" who sorts flats all night

I turn up at delivery office at 5.20 with mail Monday morning with 24 yorks. Due time of arrival is 5.25 but staff waiting for mail since 4.40 but the thing is they don't start till 5.00. Now should I get there early or should I get there on time? They always moan that I am late but I am actually early. Your thoughts please
