keepsafe for schools

just wondered if any delivery offices anywhere charge their local schools for a keep safe.
We don't, but I think its time we did, our medium size office has around 8 primary and 2 high schools each taking around 14 weeks shut down ever year. simple maths says that's around 140 weeks X whatever a keep safe costs these days = a fair bit of revenue when chalked up across the whole country.
Don't see why they should have a free service that everyone else has to pay for, after all the schools are funded either by local government or private funding.
I'll bet they wont be getting freebies when we are privatised.

We get rid our schools every day except Saturdays
Years ago the schools were empty over the holidays , but they seem to have builders and a caretaker they most of the time
A few years ago we were told that we would have to endorse them up as gone away if we could not get rid of them
But we heard when the government found out this , the Royal Mail were forced to back track

Its shouldn't, every office is supposed to operate a 'clear office policy'.
If this isn't happening, then the manager is failing in their job.

It seems to depend on the school and area.

I have a secondary with a letter box it office closed and primary school where caretaker is around during the holidays.

Whereas some other schools in my office have keepsafes.

we have a good few schools in our area, only 2 put in a keepsafe, all the others were delivered everyday except saturday!

Same here too. If they haven't paid for a keepsafe during the holidays, and they aint got a letterbox, then it's RTS time

There was a RM directive a few years back that ALL schools had to put in place a paid keepsafe,all schools 'apparently' were sent letters.
Something to do with competition rules.
We've discussed this on here every year since it came out,and every year it is being ignored.

I think this is another one of those things where each office/management just makes up their own rules.

Some provide a free keep safe, some charge for a keep safe, some stick it in a tray and shove it under the bench..

Royal Mail: just make it up as you go along.

Free schools, academies, faith schools, charities - who knows where their budget comes from.
Since we started charging them all some years ago, not one to my knowledge has actually taken up the keepsafe option.
They all get their post delivered.
