Revision Plan - Meal Break

Under current proposals, the planner for our incoming revision has put forward a proposal for splitting our meal break into 2 x 20 mins, instead of the current 40 mins. He said it has been agreed with the CWU. Is this right ? Can they split your break ?

Yes the Union have agreed FT can split their breaks if they want - although I always thought it was voluntary not imposed

Yes the whole revision should be put to a vote of the membership. Campaign for and Vote No. The rep then will explain the reason for rejection. However, it will be a dangerous ploy if no-one is taking their 40 minute break at the moment, it will be "noted" and used against people.

Meal breaks? .......Percentage wise Ive seen about maybe 10% of staff taking their entitled break ....the other 90% work through them ..unbeleiveable but true.

But some people are saying they have to take them at the end so therefore u do get your break when u finish

You can only carry half your break to the end.

Management can impose 1/2

You can though take it all anytime you like after I believe 4 hours

Because your not part time therefore has no relavance

Not as an extra break but if working over 9 hours you are entitled to 50 minutes in total.

Why

Because your not part time therefore has no relavance

It's irrelevant whether full or part time!

Yes part timers are told they must take there break at the end .. you are full time therefore you may have your break split into two with one half taken at the end . But you wont be asked to take your full break at the end .
