It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Let me see if i got this correct.......i started at RM 1979......so come 2019 i'll have 40 years service in,am i correct in saying that is the maximum that one can pay in to a pension scheme.I will be 59 years of age then and intend or intended to retire with a full pension then(if i am still breathing Gods air that is!!!)
So IF RM get their way the retirement age will increase from 60 years of age to 65 years of age,but i can still retire at 60 although my pension will be reduced by 25%......thats the way i understand it,do i read it correctly

Word is you might lose a certain % on only a bit of the pension, either way we will lose money if we go at 60.

Re: pension fund
Yes it was 17 years. I remember I started paying into the Equitable Life AVC 17 years ago, and decided to do that rather than buy added years because RM was not paying into the pension scheme at the time, also because Equitable Life was supposed to be doing well and I would get a better pension from them than the RM scheme. When Equitable Life went down the pan I lost 16% of what was in my account, and transferred what was left into the RM scheme to buy added years. I have been paying an extra £25-30 pw for the last 17 years (about £30k to date) in the hope that I would be able to retire on a full pension at 60. Now they want me to work on to 65 for a smaller pension. I may have been better off putting my money on the horses, or on the football pools, or the lottery.22games wrote:Correct me if im wrong but how many years did royal mail not pay into the pension fund,i heard it was 7 years,so they take £19.41 per week times 52 times 7 = £7065.24p they b@stards owe me
