Temporary full time contract
I just wondered if anyone else has been in a similar position to myself.I have worked for royal mail for almost 14 years on a permanent part time basis and was given the chance to increase my hours to full time on a temporary full time contract 23 months ago,which I accepted. Our office revision took place over 3 months ago and I was promised by line manager/planner and cwu rep that following a re-sign my contract would be made full time-permanent. However this has not been the case as 2 ex managers(over 30 years service each) who live local to my office (and were not part of our office re-sign) were displaced following a mail centre closure and have agreed to a pay protected drop in grade to come into my office as full time posties, leaving me and the other temporary full timer without a duty and forced to drop back to our part time contracts.Does anybody know if I have any grounds to fight this move? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

I think they were just highlighting that you cant get EVR until after 24 months - so it is kind temp...

That's a real bummer, in our office after 2 years on temp full time some have received letters from HR saying that they're now permanent full time, I assume its a standard letter triggered by the 2 year period.
Incidentally does pay protected mean that you've got two posties on 40k per year ?

Yes they are husband and wife and were offered a decent redundancy of round about 30,000 each at the closure of their mail centre and refused it, so instead took on the role of area reserves covering a number of offices as postmen/women but on 3 years protected managers pay!! but not happy with being area reserves they now want to be in the office closest to home which happens to be mine. The consequence of this being me and the other temporary full timer will lose our hours and revert to part time and the 2 part timers at the bottom of the seniority list will be moved out or contract not renewed!
