Office scales - are they accurate??

Just wondering how accurate your office scales are?
Personally I've been a little concerned about how much weight I've been losing over the last few months so have been jumping on the scales in the office and last week came in at just under 70kg.
same day i took myself to the doctor and on his scales (which i trust more than the office one) i came in at just over 75kg. That's about 7% difference - Quite a big difference with if you've carefully loaded your trolley to not be a single gram over but your office scales are UNDERweighing it so your pushing too much weight.

has anyone had issues with dodgy scales i.e bags turning out to be (unintentionally) overweight and causing injury
How often are the scales checked. What would be the best way for me to mention that i think they need looking at?

You only need trade approved scales if they are used for purposes which cause money to be exchanged. So the scales on the counter at a Post Office need to be trade approved, for example. If the scale is only used for things like weighing pouches and trolleys then it doesn't need to be trade approved

All of the scales in our place get calibrated fairly regularly - I presume this should happen at your place too. We also have official test weights for checking our scales but that might be more of a Mail Centre thing...

Firstly, it's no good "jumping on the scales". Just step on them instead.
Secondly, might that 5kg difference because you wear more clothes at the doctors than at work ?

Got no scales at our place. Used to have roll on/roll off ones but were removed for extra space. The small one for pouches was always breaking so its been dumped where the bikes used to live.

We used to weigh and record them and when we did the weight/numbers reported by the MC was usually about 10% to 20% under what we actually got.

The sad fact is that the MC is now closed. Perhaps there is a lesson in that.

The mail isn't weighed anymore.
It's all done using ACFs now.
That's fine for sequenced mail because we get an accurate figure from the MC as the machine counts it.
Everything else is bollocks especially packet counts.
I think the ACF for a packet york is now well below 200 which if anyone who has ever manually counted one will tell you can be over a hundred packets light depending on the type of packets....sorry parcels.

Think it,s 172 a full York red sleeve but as you say if it,s full of small item,s shall we say could be around 400 sorry I thought they still weighed everything in d,os.
