ATOS HEALTHCARE...

Hi guys,

some advice please, ive recently managed to tear my bicep muscle and have been off work for two weeks already, and have a further 4weeks to go, signed of by Doc. Now I had a call from my manager, saying that a company called ATOS will be calling, regarding reviewing my injury, ive also received a letter from them stating a time. He also mentioned that they may try and get me back to work early, doing office work. Now im a driver for Relay, and we are a remote base, sharing a PF depot, the depot is 15 miles away from home and my mode of transport to work is either driving or cycling, which i cannot do, and dont anticipate doing for at least a months time. Now my concern is, that I will not even attempt to go back to work even on light duties, in till my sick note is up, and im happy and confident that my arm is strong enough to carry out day to day tasks. Has any one else been in a similar position, and would care to offer some advice on the matter.

ATOS are the company that do the occupational health for Royal Mail.

My advice be upfront and honest about your condition. Don't embellish and don't downplay either. Be honest about the limits that the condition imposes or that you perceive imposes and if they are fair you should be okay.

Also as its private medical information you can request they send you a report before/or as your Manager gets a copy. You can also ask for them to leave any medical details out of his report and just let them report their recommendations to Royal Mail.

Thanks for that TBT, i will definitely ask for a copy of the report first, and also ask them not to disclose any of my personal medical history, as I see this has no relevance to RM managers.

All went well, advised me to stay off for another 2-3 weeks..
