Are you entitled to ask them to re-do the signature?
Are people entitled to sign their name in any way they see fit?
Could it be discriminatory if someone just marks an X and you hassle them only to find out they can't write their name?
Has anyone asked a customer to rewrite their signature because it's just a squiggle?
When I hand stuff into the Post Office for Local Collect she just uses her fingernail to draw something that looks like a hangman's noose.

I don't care how they sign it, I put in their name and they can put in whatever signature they want, most of the time you can't make out the signature anyway.

I politely ask them to sign it as best as they can - because (play the innocent/guilt trip) my manager might think that it was signed by posties as they dont trust us...

I probably 'clear' it if I see someone struggling or when they put a non-nonchalant squiggle. However, most of the time, I just accept whatever...

I don't pay any attention to the squiggle as it is hard to make out.
I do ask there name and have put in whatever they say including
Queen Elizabeth who apparently was working in a Royal Bank of Scotland branch.

Maybe the bedroom tax is getting to her after all....

If you can't read their name from it it isn't a valid signature and you should get them to do it again.

I had a customer sign for something once, then several weeks later she claimed she'd never received it, RM provided her with a copy of her signature from the day it was delivered but she still insisted she hadn't received it and didn't recognise the signature... RM believed her and compensated her for her ''loss''... what's the point in going to all the trouble of getting signatures when RM just pay out scammers anyway!

as it never resembles your signature anyway it makes little difference. asked a customer once to just put their x on the box and they did.

No why would I? It's got nothing to do with me. Who am I to question someones signature? Is a signature meant to be legible? Most aren't.

Anyway, it's never occurred to me to look at the screen when someone's signed, I just click 'Done'.

(I might start paying attention now though.. there might be some funny drawings).

If you can't read their name from it it isn't a valid signature and you should get them to do it again.

Surely you can't most people's name from their signature.
