CHANGES to the way residents across the Bognor Regis area will receive their post are due to be made.

The Royal Mail is altering the way it delivers mail in the PO21 and PO22 postcode areas over the next few weeks.

Postmen and women will use new delivery methods and adopt revised delivery routes as changes are introduced on a phased basis.

Royal Mail says it will continue to deliver in the morning and for a longer period during the day. It says the changes also mean:

n Many customers will continue to get their mail by lunchtime.

n The time customers receive mail will depend on where they live on the new delivery route. This may be later or possibly earlier than current delivery times.

n When mail volumes vary, the company may need to adjust delivery arrangements and times.

Royal Mail will be writing to every address in the area about the plans and this includes households, businesses and other organisations.

It sayaid the changes were being made because fewer letters were now posted every day and Royal Mail needed to organise its delivery routes to be as efficient as possible. Because it now delivered more large items the service was is also investing in new equipment to carry these items more securely.

The new equipment also reduced the risk of injury to postmen and women from carrying heavier mail bags, said Royal Mail.

Always makes me laugh that line about injuries being reduced with new equipment. Have to say pushing an HCT around has now shifted the pain from my shoulder to the middle of my back. Unless they fit a motor to the HCT I can't see any difference in getting injuries.

They do/did have motorised HCTs.
The story I heard is they bought them after seeing Swedish post using them, but they were used in Mail Centres/warehouses indoors.
When they used them outside and the motors got wet in the rain they had a lot of them breaking down and because they were so heavy they had to send a pick up truck to retrieve them.
I haven't seen one in use in a long time.

Yes two and a half years later.Bognor was one of the first to get HCTs & park and loop

that doesnt make sense so they got the 600 quid 2 and a half years ago ?

They have had HCTs and P&L for two an a half years but still havent had the 600 quid. The planner has now been back and redone it.
