2 weeks leave next year

Hello. Would anyyone on here know whether it is possible to book 2 weeks leave for next year. The leave list doesn't come out in our office until October, and I would be happy to take the leave unpaid. As I have only been with the company 3 years, and our leave list is picked on seniority I don't think I will get the weeks. The holiday is being partly paid for by my in-laws for my wifes 40th birthday, but to have the opportunity of a cheaper foreign holiday they need to know asap if I can go. I just wondered if there was any documentation I could take into the Dom with me. Thanks in anticpation.

How should it be sorted out then? If left to managers discretion it opens up calls of favourtism

rotating sections by year or parts of year, reverse seniority every 2 years, random pick with volunteer surrender or lucky dip on clashes (our one) - plenty of choices.

It is true. Everyone picks 2 weeks and i am 20th and last pick. It has been this way for all 3 years I have been here. However I then get to pick first on the next run, so in effect i pick 4 weeks after 38 weeks are chosen, and we are only allowed 2 people off at once. I haven't ever asked for favourable treatment but this seemed an opportunity too good to miss to go abroad. Does it get mentioned in any agreements, that if i give enough notice to the company, that they would allow me to have this time off unpaid?

Not in any agreements exactly but one of the principles of holiday leave is special occasions that are planned ahead should be honoured. (Weddings/honeymoons etc)
Unfortunately it will be down to your manager's discretion.
Try saying pretty please and if he grants it, get it in writing.
