hi all just wondering if i booked a days holiday in advance 6 months ago for a saturday in september to go to a wedding can they now stop me having it because of people going sick

Absolutely not.
They can ask you to come in if you have already had your legal requirements of holidays and this was extra .

Do you have some proof on paper, either an annual leave card, or a request slip with the managers authorisation on it? Otherwise, I'm not sure I'd trust them to honor it, if it was a verbal agreement only.
