Who cares when it starts or ends? Let it last year after year if the sad managers want it to. But and its a big BUT you only lapse when you have the time to do it. If you don't then you say NO. Its that easy. Let them worry about getting the extra bits out not you.

That's the beauty about lapsing, it don't matter what time of the year it is, if you run around like a blue-arse fly because you somehow think it's still 'job & finish,' you will always have time in which management can point a finger at you, laugh themselves silly, and get you to do extra which enables them to get a nice, fat, juicy bonus.

Meanwhile, all the mugs get is an extra hour or two of daytime TV.

I have undergone a long review process, and can state categorically, with due regard to poor arithmetic and the fact that I used the accountancy firm called "3 wise Monkeys". I have lapsed exactly 0 hours on 0 occasions this year.

Start on time, take your breaks, don't run around, finish on time, no need to lapse is what any normal person who wants to protect his job should do, but were not talking normal people who work for Royal Mail, it's come in 30 min early, not take any breaks, run round, climbing over fences, then blame the rep cos they got to lapse, but still finish an hour before someone who has done the job correctly. Next thing you know we're lapsing some more duties, problem easily solved start work 45 min earlier and run round faster, meanwhile the person who takes his breaks, starts on time, does not panic, and finishes on time and still does not lapse. My question is who will be 6 feet under 1st, the postman who runs round cos he got to get home to watch Jeremy Kyle or the postman who just accepts he is working till his time?
