Last week my P/L partner was off all week ill and in our office the walker then has to be a driver, who then does just his frame but has to take all the large packets for both frames.
I said that I would do half of my P/L partners frame for 3 hours docket.
The question I am asking is that I went over on my frame by 50 mins (due to the amount of parcels on both rounds) but on my docket I did it in just over 2 hours.
My Dom said that because I did the docket an hour quicker he wont pay me the 50 mins extended.
Surely if it always 3 hours for half a frame docket they cant then say you can't get extended because you were quicker on docket .....or can they?

So you want them to pay you for time that you weren't working?

My understanding is that if you go over your finish time (and have agreed with your manager), you claim OT until you finish working. So in this case you should get 2h50m overtime... rather than the 3h50m you seem to think you should be getting... no?

That will be a local agreement so you'll need to have a word with your rep. Although one question that does spring to mind is did you inform the DOM that you would be going over by 50 minutes on your own duty/section. If not then a miser or snake in the grass could consider that as outside the agreement for overrunning deliveries, and pull a fast one.

Also the local agreement of fixed hours for docket doesn't match the work all your paid hours from P&M07 so your rep and yourself may have a fight on your hands.

Get it in writing next time or don't do it.
Consider this a 50 minute lesson on trust.

In the distant past when I used to do ot, I agreed what I was getting with the manager before I did it, if it took me an hour and a half, and i got three, great. Whatever I went over on my own delivery was extra to that.

P and L muddies the waters somewhat, if you're doing some of the "other" duty on ot. Did you mention you might go over on your frame before you went out? If not, I can understand a manager being arsey about it, but then you know where you can tell him to stick his overtime the next time he asks you(unless he's willing to pay for that and your extended of course).

have you booked extra break time for the excess hours, and if so then dont worry bout the 50 mins lost to a greedy manager. you can easily make that back from them
