seniority question.

been asked to querie this on here so here goes. it seems a bit of underhand tactics have been used by a rep to promote nepotism and get his mate onto full time. a full time duty became vacant, and was then immediately cut down to 28 hrs. dont know how this was allowed, but anyways, a part timer with 6 years service put in for the duty as he was only on 25 hrs at the time. nobody can seem to remember the vacancy being advertised but it has been said that it was, and this lad got the duty. then, immediately after aquiring it, the rep has said to management that the duty needed more hours put on it, so it was put back up to ''tempory'' full time. now some other part timers have asked how this lad can get full time hours before them, as some of them have 10-12 years service in. theyve been told that 'that' duty needed full time hours because it needed prepping in the mornings and there was no-one available to do it. (sounds shyte to me). also it would be put back down to part time once we achieve 100% bsi. and, because it was this lads own duty that needed putting up to full time, that HE would get it anyway,,,,BECAUSE it was his own duty.??? does this mean seniority can be overruled in situations like this. it seems like a totally invented pile of garbage to me but i said i'de ask on here anyways. can any of you clued up reps on here switch a light on.?? cheers.

ask for proof it was advertised is number 1

number 2 if the hours on a duty have been changed ( even temporarily) it should be readvertised

To be completely fair and transparent the additional prep could be put on Overtime at the part-time rate (if that is allowed) and then offer the OT to all and sundry including the walkholder.
