feeling bullied by fellow work colleague

I have to say, I actually do hate the term bullied because I know how to stand up for myself but anyway, I am a part timer but work for an hour on the enquiry desk to cover the usual mans meal break but he is off this week and there is usually a female postie who takes over and that is ALL she is, a postwoman!

However, she is one of those who given a little authority tends to think she rules the place by telling ppl what to do and even bitching about them behind their back, which happens a lot in my office. Anyway, she picked me up yesterday because I did not fill in the tracking number on the p739 card as I dont always do because we can usually find parcels in the office just by looking in the books for names and addresses which i told her.
So anyway i said it must be something new and she argued it has always been in place and said that i was one of the few ppl who 'is slow on the uptake' not do it!
To which i asked what are you implying??? and she just laughed, I was fuming at that reply and told her i didnt think it was necessary and that if i am not told to do it how can i be slow on the uptake. She does like to confront you in a rather threatening way if you disagree with anything she says which is why i hate her being in charge.
The usual man in charge can be belittling towards me at times but at least he leaves you to do your job and doesnt question you!
Am I over re-acting- would that anoy you if you were spoken to like that, I dont think i can report her to my manager because i feel he will be on her side as he is with anyone working alongside him. He never sides with you at all. Should i report her to royal mail customer complaints?
Starting to feel quite victimized in this job now, as she and others seem to get away with murder, like for example no one likes working in the van with her because she is slow at prep and tying up, usually the last to go. But no one complains about her except for me and also another man doesnt take his pda gun because he finds it heavy and the manager knows but doesnt tell him. Its all double standards really

sorry to say this sounds like most offices , you have the "favourites" and then the rest . Best thing to do is just walk away from her if shes giving you a hard time dont even give a response . Dont let the ba**tards get you down!!!

Just like to point out that the tracking number on the P739 card is for the customers benefit, not to help find the packet in the callers office.

Filling in the tracking number on a 739 is a very important part of the process. It helps track an item if it cannot be found. The track point for instance 001z means the item was never returned to the office, the track is from the PDA on delivery. Were as if the track says oo1c the item has been returned to the office and that track is on the PDA in the Callers office.

This helps a great deal when try to track a missing item. Not are you only covering your own backs, no one can point to you and say you haven't brought it back, unless the track says oo1z, then you haven't brought it back. The times the item has been found in the offenders bag and the only reason we knew it was there is because of the track.

So in short, it is not just for the customer, it gives an idea of were the item is.

Personally I would just ignore her and get on with my job, little people have little impact as far as I am concerned, thats something you could consider in your dealing with her.

The answer to this one is simple Emma.
1) Tell this women if she doesn't wind her neck in you will put in a compliant against her. If that doesn't work:
2) Ask your manager to have an informal chat with her about it. If that doesn't work:
3) Ask your Manager for a Compliant form and tell him you wish to complain about another member of staff. It's his job do deal with this as it's in office. Mention Harassment & Bullying. Often this may be enough to motivate him to have a word without it going official. If that doesn't work:
4) Put in the complaint form. Keep a copy yourself, they have a habit of getting lost! If that doesn't work:
5) Phone the Bullying Helpline. Tell them what the Manager said. Keep records of all conversations and complaints.
6) You can put in a Stage 2 Compliant against your Manager (which will go to his Manager and be dealt with by the Area Union Rep) if he fails to deal properly with your initial complaint.

You do not have to take any s**t from this women, or others. Do not be afraid that it'll make you unpopular, they will realise you're not willing to be picked on. Good Luck

nope this is another woman, that woman left ages ago- thank god, the most rudest person I have ever met! Never mind its a s**t job, as soon as something better comes along I will be off!

Nope. I reckon the same problem with the same characters must have struck a chord - whereas I didn't consider it worthy of revisiting after 2 years
