Sickness/amendment of duties/callers office/suitable work

My knee has been giving me jip for months, after tuesdays round the pain got too much so i decided to visit my doctor, luckily enough i grabbed an appointment that afternoon, after examination it the doctor has referred me to have an xray - which i had yesterday, and an mri which could have along wait for with suspicion of cartilage damage/loose fragments on the kneecap, i was advised to rest the leg for a few days then look into the possibility of light duties, after having the xray I informed work and definitively told them that i would not be able to complete a round, drive, walk or stand for long amounts of time, they then requested that i get a fit for work form with these issues noted down and said that i would be put in the den between mon-fri 6.30-13.30 getting peoples parcels etc. I rang the doctors who said they do not do such things anymore, but then a doctor, not who examined me rang me back and arranged for a fit for work form to be filled in and i collected today.

The fit for work form is dated yesterday, and has the following:

Unable to walk more than 100m
Unable to drive
Unable to stand for more than a few minutes
unable to do any heavy labour.

I rang the office to give them these details and spoke to the guy who arranges staffing And informed him that i doubt i will return monday as im still in a lot of pain once stood up, I also said that the collectors office in my opinion would not be suitable in regards to the doctors recommendations, i was told that its not necessarily the case that i would be stood up in the callers office, but as i see, they are stood up for pretty much their whole shift.
He said i should expect a call from a manager tomorrow.

Am i right in that the callers office duty is predominantly stood up, as you have to speak to the customer go find their parcel walk back and them their parcel?

I find their attitude a bit rude considering i have only been off for 3 days, with yesterday being my day off anyway and their trying to badger me into going in.
I have this fit for work form dated yesterday, but i will not be returning until the pain subsides enough to go in. But as its dated yesterday as work requested i get one that day, could they say that i can work as the doctors note is dated 15/8 and i will not return until i see fit?

On your feet, with plenty of twisting and turning and bending of the knees to place and retrieve parcels from the lower shelves or the floor - which wont do your knee any good whatsoever .

Forget the callers office with a bad knee sometimes in ours you have to get down on your knees to sort out some packets on lower shelves.

Cheers chaps/chapesses, just as i thought, i also spoke to a colleague who had a broken toe and was told not to stand for long periods of time, they put him in their and was on his feet all day.
Ill look forward for this supposed phone call.

I expect that it's because, in all reality, managers just don't care about us. There only concern is their bonus, which is likely to be affected by things like this.

Well the dom rang me this morning, waffled on about my fit for work form being given to me last week and i should be back working and he had an issue with this, i said im still in pain etc, he said that being in the den i wont be walking more than 100m, i wont be stood up for more than a few mins, and i wont be driving or doing heavy labour, i said ill be stood up all day and he said its periodical collecting the parcels. After arguing i agreed to go in tomorrow, but said if i am in any pain i will duly leave.

Ill have a word with my union rep before i start and tell him i dont find the position suitable and see what he says, i may ask for them to put in writing that they want me to work in the callers office.

The fit for work form was done over the phone, and i got this on works request in advance of returning.

Just looking now and i dont even need a fit for work form unless i have been sick for more than 7 days, this isn't the issue and it seems this is why the doctors weren't forthcoming in issuing one.

the callers office is defined by the way forward as a specialist job so, it does not seem correct that, unless you have been properly trained to just put you in there
