Where's the union...that I pay for ??

I currently pay £ 15 a month to have absolutely no support from my union rep what so ever because if he defended members in our office he would lose overtime he so generously receives off the managers. On many occasions broken promises and lies have left his mouth and at the moment the B&H at our office is unbearable, we are at the moment completing a revision which has been a joke to say the least and he has done nothing to help us, but I bet a years wages he comes out with a cushy little duty for himself ( like last re-sign we had ) Most members in our office have had enough and are seriously thinking about cancelling their subs to the union because locally we don't benefit anything . Things need to change because human beings here are getting treated like s**t.

contact your local Area rep if you are not happy with what your own rep is doing, he should be looking out for all of you and not just himself, you can of course as well, get someone to stand against him in the next rep elections ( think they are in December this year but I could be wrong )

and if your area rep is the same go to National level and contact your national area rep.

Many thanks for the advice regarding our rep, when myself and others have tried to contact the area rep he is either engaged, busy or just doesn't answer the call

The problem is the managers are getting away with murder in our unit and it is just not on.

find out what National area you are affiliated to and look on http://www.cwu.org/cwu-branches.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and email / ring that office, they will sort it for you very quickly.

I'm not being funny mate I'd love to tell you the area...the area rep's name...the name of the office...the name of the local rep, what the hell I'd love to tell you my real name BUT you know how it works unfortunately I can't ....

It may not be any consolation but yours is not an isolated instance. The union set up is such that each protect their own and your position is of little consequence as long as it doesn't affect them - incidentally if you contact HQ it will more than likely be directed to your Area Rep to investigate and report back

A full time rep from my area can't drive and that may well explain why the offices outside his immediate vicinity have never been visited.
