part time holiday entitlement quiery.

Hi.
Ive been with the RM now for 7 weeks on a 25hr contract. I was told I have 17 days holiday to take up til april. My manager has found a slot in november so has booked me a week off then so my holiday sheet now says I have 12 days left. Because im part time on 3 days a week im already gonna be off anyway for the other 2 days so in theory ill only be taking 3 days as my holiday entitlement. My manager says thats how it works.
Is this correct?

theres no way you will be able to take 5 weeks and 2 days off so probably right

I would get him to check again 17 days holiday seems a lot for a 3 day week. Unless he meant 2 weeks and 3 days which would equal 9 days.

The full annual leave entitlement for a new starter is 4 weeks 2.5 days - so this would equate to 12 - 14 days in total for you as a weeks leave is 3 days. So he's told you you have more annual leave than a 20 year man.

Thats what he said and my sheet now says 12 days after taking 5 off in November. I wonder if 5 days entitlement means 3 to someone who works only 3 days. I would have thought pro rata I would have been something like 12 days for the year instead of 20. How is it working for other part timers on 3 days.?

Holiday is worked out on week's. So I do a 4 day week and buy up to 6 weeks a year. So although they say we get 22.5 days a year holiday as a starter which in theory would mean I should get 5.5 weeks as standard but it isn't counted that way, a week is a week if u work 3,4 or 5 day week. So the manager is saying you have 2 weeks and 2 days left to take this year. Remember if any of your days off fall on a bank holiday that u get that day back in lieu so will add to your entitlement.

as you are pt you are entitled to a tad over 5/8ths of 23 and 1/2 days based on your contract of 25 hours which is a tad over 5/8ths of a 39 hour week.
this equates to 15 days ish.
Your a/l is pro rata. i.e. the above.
when deducting a/l days cannot be taken off of your entitlement if you are not due to attend.
So to surmise it would appear what you have left is correct (12 days), what you were told you initially had (17 days) was incorrect.

He has booked you down for 5 non working days not 5 days holiday - the 6 working days of that week are made of:

1. 2 days holiday
2. 3 Days not paid or working.
3. 1 Day working.

As you only work 3 days a week you are only entitled 3 days holiday for every week you are off.

You won't get back the 2 days or lose them - you never had them in the first place.

Make sure he's including bank holidays etc. unless you work Mondays then you'll probably lose xxx days.

no you don.t ours is still done in days and weeks. I know what you mean tho but when is anything done the way its supposed to in rm

Our is also still in days/weeks.
But they are supposed to be using the PSP system, and they don't because it is of benefit to them, saves them problems/issues.
We are currently trying to get ours done on the PSP system.
One reason being that, on that system you can book hours off, you don't have to take full days (managers hate it).
Another reason, the PSP system shows, unequivocally, what weeks are available to be taken. Our office managers block weeks that should be available, just to make their jobs easier.

That would be extremely difficult, and practically impossible.
All we need is for management to follow guidelines/agreements and not show favouritism.
