How is a van share suppose to work?

I'm current doing a van share as the driver and my passenger is great. He fills his trolley with his loop and then takes as many parcels as he can squeeze in his bags!! Saves me time running around on the smaller driver loops.

My question is what is a passenger suppose to do? Is he suppose to take parcels? The relief passenger who covers days off doesn't take anymore than he needs.

One of the aims of park and loop is to avoid multiple calls at the same address.
If it fits in a trolley, it goes with the trolley.
The only packets a driver should be doing are the oversize ones that don't fit in a pouch.

As long as you trust each other you should help each other,if the driver gets the oversize done it's only fair he helps the walker,also as a walker I have some awkward one way streets,so I do that as a smaller loop and take any oversize packet's in my trolley,and the driver would take a couple of smaller parcels from the rest of the loop as I have to go back to the van to collect the rest of that loop,the main thing is that the pair of you work as a team,and that 1 of you doesn't take the p1ss by skiving while the other runs around doing their work.I can drive so if the driver has a lot of attendence calls on his loop I can get a few oversize done if I am back first,it's not so much the walk as who you work with I find.

I'm a non driving partner on a shared van duty. We do two walks broken into 9 loops with small sections that can be added to or subtracted from adjacent loops. The basic plan is that I do three loops on the larger walk whilst the driver does two plus large parcels and specials from the van. When we get to the second walk area, it is split exactly between us using LWT'S. Where days vary and my partner has a light parcel delivery section he takes one or more of the small sections off me and conversely, if he has a bad packet or special day, I will take part of his walking duty off him. Each day a few of the parcels and the occasional special delivery can be dropped off on the way to our starting point. We co-operate and help each other and I know most of the shared van duties in our office work on a similar principle. I am sure that not everyone gets a perfect partner but if you don't, being selfish makes a bad job even worse.

Exactly i work together with the driver you do not want to be delaying the driver its not in your interest but you cannot just assume the non driver will take the bulk we all know how much you can stash in a bag and it is up to the passenger if he wants to take it not a given .
