Any good advice regarding sorting and delivering door2doors?

Hi.
Im a newbie postie and i'm stuggling with some D2D's which on occasions slow me down. Last week we had 2 lots, a big Pizza Hut offer leaflet as well as a very small fiddly Direct line booklet.. The method ive been using is to deliver row by row on your frame each day but some street are split up on rows so sometimes I end up having a couple of D2D's left over in a bundle,so now ive started quickly writing the door number in the corner of the leaflet. With the fiddly direct line booklets and the big pizza hut leaflet its not easy keeping one inside the other so Ive been placing them on my forearm behind my bundle,both leaflets seperately and im at each door for 10-15 seconds longer trying to juggle the letters and D2D's. Its fine when its one leaflet but a little booklet and a large leaflet together is a pain.
I was wondering if anyone has any good advice on carrying them so it speeds my deliveries up.

instead of doing rows do colums . carry the fiddly ones in your bag to deliver.

Yeah I could try putting them in one of the smaller pouches in my bag. So far its just been the direct line ones because they are small and slim and just fall out of the other leaflet when put together especially with them being a booklet too. If its just one leaflet I tend to prep them on my frame between each letter so basically I still only carry one bundle at a time on deliveries. I was entigued to know how other people prep/deliver multiple awkward d2d's.

I put them all in the frame whether its 1 or 6

I tend to put the biggest at the back and try to avoid white ones at the front so I can see if there is any mail. Some get ripped by the elastic bands and/or get soggy in the wet or with my sweat (shame). Only 2 this week, but its 5 or 6 most weeks.

Make smaller bundles of mail and place a bundle of d2d at the back of the mail, so that both together are comfortable to carry. Then just pick off the d2d's as you deliver, it's far easier than messing around with them all mixed in with the mail. If you have double slot frames its even more reason not to put them into frame.

Are you doing park and loop with a partner yet? If so doing the d2d in columns or rows may not work, if we did it in columns one of us would be taking 120 d2d on a Monday with the other taking none! We just put around 30 per day in each bag and remember or note where we get to, it means no bags are heavy with d2d and they are easily cleared without really noticing how many you are actually delivering each day.

Im not on park and loop yet but we are in that transitional period now and some have been doing it a couple of weeks. Im new so im on the '6 week' same walk. I think im going to be a reserve postie so that's just gonna throw me again with the D2D's especially if im on a different walk each day. I guess in the meantime smaller bundles will be a the key.

If you do it by columns, then you are spreading the daily D2ds across several bags, so lightening the load on each bag. Do a column per day and prep them into the frame and place all other mail in front, or if double slots the front and the middle. Makes for easy delivery as you do not have to thumb through each piece of mail. The D2ds divides each delivery point. Agree it,s a pain when they are thin and catch in elastic bands and rip, but if you have smaller bundles you can take the band off at the start of the bundle and it saves you having to keep pulling mail out from a banded bundle.

Yes forgive me for giving the guy enough credit to figure that out!

I will just read the boards from now on. Far too many people on here these days with extremely large bugs up thier @rses!

For donkeys years we did a row of d2d a day which was a pain because you did anywhere between 80-120 in one go. Since our revision a couple of years ago the office agreement was to do columns and it's a far better way to be honest. As a couple of people have said above it splits them up nicely over the walk so your only doing short bursts of 20 calls at a time. You hardly even notice your doing them this way.
