Signed for a round and now moved

Post by fb1969 »

Our office is still pre-revision and a few weeks back some rounds were put up for signature with the DOM saying you would keep them until the revision. Now it has been decided that the round will be lapsed and I'll be shifted all over the place! Does anyone know if I can I do anything to stop this?

Just to clarify lapsing can be used to make more leave slots available (how they are used to up to local arrangements IIRC) and lapsing can be used to cover any absence as suggested. However they are not the ONLY reasons why duties can be lapsed.

Managers can lapse rounds to ensure that people work all their paid hours as part of the P&M07 agreement, which is why people with wiser heads than mine continually advise people to start at the correct time, take their breaks and do the job correctly .

As to the original query, to be honest you'll need to speak to your local rep. If they had an agreement about the pre-revision repick, or selection of duties then you may have a case, and the rep may be able to enter a stage 1 disagreement. If it was executive action or an unofficial agreement between you and the manager, then apart from making them aware you are not happy there is no much else that can be done.

Thanks for the replies. Several rounds were up for grabs at the time so it wasn't an unofficial agreement. I can't see the rep doing much about it, so I'll just put up with it and hope it only lasts a few weeks.

Nope not told. From what others have said it was likely that it would be, but no one told me beforehand!

After Revision and general Repick, we now have a round lapsed and the walkholder was not informed and nobody was aware of this round being lapsed. The walkholder is now doing cover duties - mind you, he is a senior PT staff so does not get the more difficult rounds - but still...

The 'power-that-be' wants lapsing regardless of what is going on in the office - crazy! So we lapse - nothing to do with absence or shortage of staff or staff working all paid hours - they will rather pay OT to some dissenters or pay OT to cover lapse or managers do the remnants themselves. RM management
