Hello. One question having applied for a commsave credit union loan i have been refused on the grounds that my son who was over the age of 18 and who has left the business over two years ago owes them funds. I was not a guarantor or legally responsible for his debt.
I am 100% i am not responsible for his debt.
Please advice

I have been refused a loan on the grounds my son who left the business over 2 years ago owes them funds.
Can they do this ? and his it legal ?

I am sure it's subject to status like any other bank or money lending outfit.

I thought the idea of being in a credit union is that you have money invested in so going to another union would you be able to wait that long and also the answer could be the same..

Was it the same address as yours and have they or anyone else made him bankrupt as that might show your address?

Not sure what the small print is on the credit union but I'm sure you can't be "punished" by guilt from association , your son was living at a different address and was over the age of financial responsibility. So I can not see the problem.

Yes you can borrow but you have to save with them for a period or is that wrong?

Yes you can have a summer loan straight away but this problem wont go away. can i legally challenge them through the f.i.a

Why don't you get your son to pay what he owes.
